SAGE ADVICE FOR RESUMES, INTERVIEWING, AND MORE!

Do I Need A Professional Resume Writing Services in Houston, Texas?![]()
Coming from one of only two Certified Professional Resume Writers (CPRW), Certified Employment Interview Professionals (CEIP), AND Certified Professional Career Coaches (CPCC) in the entire state of Texas as of this writing, you would expect my answer to the question above to be a resounding “YES!”
In fact, it was only yesterday that a future career coaching client emailed her resume to me and after a thorough review I replied that her resume was fine! NO, she did not require professional assistance with her current resume! Amazing that I would miss the opportunity to charge a fee? She even called me this afternoon just to be certain that I thought her resume was fine! My format, structure, keywords, and a few other things would have improved her current resume, but as a percentage, not enough for me to believe that her current document wouldn’t attract interviews.
It will not land you a new position; only a great interview, or series of interviews will do that!
A great resume MUST be a marketing masterpiece, not a chronological obituary! If you “Search” for resume writers in your area on the Internet, you’ll surely get pages of them…guaranteed. Far and away, most are NOT certified professionals. You wouldn’t have your health checked by anyone other than a registered, professional physician; your car repaired by anyone that wasn’t certified to complete the repairs to the manufacturer’s specifications; then why would you put your future career, professional and financial health in the hands of just another typist with a decent website? In Houston (4th largest city in the U.S.), we have plenty and some make claims about their “credentials” that are absolutely untrue, or misleading, at best. I suppose that happens in a number of industries, or business segments. It matters not in what city, or state that you reside, or wish to relocate, the issues and results basically remain the same. Having authored thousands of resumes and coached more than 900 clients to date from coast to coast, my guess is that most, if not all resume writers would review your current resume for free. My auto mechanic reviews the issue(s) with my vehicles for free and provides a quote for repairs. I can then decide to take a chance and drive the car “as is,” or begin the repair. Safety and reliability are paramount for me. With a resume, great presentation, proper grammar and tense, best keywords, brevity, et al are all critical components of a great resume and cover letter (email) AND it now must survive the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) software scan that can kick-out your resume for a hundred reasons, and you'll never know. A major reason why applicants never receive a reply! If you’re fine with your neighbor assessing your health, or your automobile, then that’s an option. If you believe that your resume is attracting sufficient interviews for you to land that career position, then roll the dice. However, if your health is deteriorating; your car won’t start; you’re not getting any interviews, then find a Certified Professional! It’s the surest and quickest way to a brighter future!
