“Sell Yourself” in a JOB Interview?
Although I do not see as many of my colleagues writing about “Selling Yourself” during a job interview as I once did, but think about it for a moment...
All good points. Frankly, I do not know anyone that is truly comfortable in 'selling' themselves - not even my grand, money-earning, sales professionals that are clients. They will tell you that their sales' success came from uncovering precisely what the needs were of the prospect, or customer and selling only the appropriate solution(s)…everything else stays in the bag. Sage advice! Interviews should go in that direction!
Having been the 'hiring authority' for most of my professional career as a former Vice President & General Manager and now professionally authoring resumes and providing career coaching for more than 15 years, I have created a much easier and more productive job interviewing methodology (than the typical interrogation method used for centuries). This methodology provides more valuable information for both interviewing parties AND provides a clear separation from the other candidates. Neither party enjoys an interview…be honest. There are reasons why and several may be subliminal. Learn how to "SELL THE FIT!" First comes a great resume for the candidate to gain the interview. That is the sole purpose of the resume. Then only great interviewing will gain the Job Offer and is THAT fair?
